MY NAME.. IPA

JOEL in International Phonetic Alphabet- dʒoəl
"Jo" has the onset of a voiced lingua-alveolar consonant and a low back vowel
"el" has a voiced central vowel and a lingua-alveolar consonant,
I would rather have my name pronounced as "dʒoɛl"

  1. Professors should no long have trouble pronouncing your name!

  2. Except that "el" doesn't have an onset. It begins with the rhyme.
How would you explain how to say it to someone who is not a linguist?
